Please join me for episode 12, part 2 of “Rittener Reflections,” where I am joined by Ken Wilcox, the former CEO of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) from 2001 to 2011, and the CEO of SVB’s joint venture with the Shanghai Pudong Development Bank in Shanghai until 2015.I hope you enjoyed listening to Ken and me in the first segment of episode 12, where we discussed the significance of leadership in relation to culture. I am pleased to present the second part of our conversation, where we delve into conducting business in China and what Ken refers to as the “China business conundrum.” Having spent a considerable portion of my career working in and with China, I was particularly interested in Ken’s insights. Our discussion prompted me to reflect on the remarkable individuals I encountered and collaborated with in China, as well as the unique opportunities to experience both the cultural richness and geopolitical complexities. My initial trip to China was in 2003, and my most recent visit was in 2023. Over those 20 years, I visited numerous times, meeting at Intel sites, with customers, and with government officials. There are countless stories to share, which may serve as content for future podcasts. For now, I encourage you to listen to Ken’s candid and insightful feedback.
