Jeff welcomes author Ker Gibbs for a candid conversation about China, drawn from decades of living and working between two worlds. They trace the experiences that led Ker to write his new book, explore the strengths and vulnerabilities he sees in China, and dig into how they shape the US-China relationship, from trade to business. Along the way, Ker takes on some common assumptions about China and shares the takeaways he hopes readers, and listeners, carry with them. It’s a firsthand view of a country that is easy to misread and impossible to ignore.

Ker Gibbs has worked in for more than two decades and recently served as President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai. He is the author of The Fragile Dragon, a book about China’s strengths and hidden vulnerabilities. Previously, he worked for Boston Consulting Group in China, held senior executive positions at Apple and Disney, and served as head of technology and media in Greater China for HSBC.
