For years, our profession was defined by how well we knew the rules and how accurately we could apply them. This remains crucial. But today, the real differentiator is something else entirely:The ability to communicate. To simplify and distill complexity. To influence decisions. To help leadership see what truly matters — and why.
Trade has moved from a transactional function to a strategic one. And the people who can step back from the noise, scan the landscape, and communicate with clarity are the ones who will move their companies — and their careers — forward.
This clip is from a recent panel hosted by WIT‑NC on the Voices of Trade. I appreciated the chance to share this perspective with the trade community.
Thank you to @WIT‑NC for hosting such a thoughtful conversation — and to my fellow panelists @Michael Hueneke and @Brent Carlson for the depth, candor, and perspective they brought to the room. A great evening with great people.
